Selection Process


To be eligible to apply, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant has completed Didactic Program in Nutrition and Dietetics academic requirements
  • Applicant (has or will have) completed a B.S. or B.A. degree from a ACEND accredited Didactic program in Nutrition and Dietetics (DP)
  • Applicant has earned an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 and an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 in professional courses
  • Applicant has had experience (paid or unpaid) in a food, nutrition or dietetic setting
  • If taken before November 2011, a minimun score on the GRE formula of 1100 (150 X undergraduate GPA+GRE [Verbal + Quantitative] score). Verbal and Quantiative combined scores should be at least 800.
  • If GRE was taken after November 2011, then Verbal score should be at least a 146 and Quantitative score should be at least a 140. Attached is a conversion chart for the new score scale to put ito the GRE formula.
  • Applicant must be eligible for MSU Graduate School

Applicants will be ranked using standard criteria on the basis of:

·         Academic performance

·         Evidence of maturity

·         Organizational skills

·         Interpersonal skills

·         Self-direction

·         Quality of references

·         Perceived understanding of the field

·         Compatibility of applicant's goals with mission of our program.


Computer Matching

This program will participate in the D & D Digital computer matching. All applicants must participate in computer matching.  Applicants should request instructions and a mark/sense card to prioritize their Internship preferences, from an ADA-approved Didactic Program in Dietetics or from D&D Digital Systems. This request should be made to allow turnaround time for the February postmark deadline. There is no charge for this material.
