Welcome to our Nutrition and Dietetic Program! McNeese State University offers nutrition programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels that are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  The undergraduate nutrition major program, known as the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DP), leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Sciences with a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics.  Students completing this degree program are eligible to apply for acceptance in Dietetic Internship programs.  

Didactic Program in Dietetics: Our graduates earn a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences with a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics.  The degree can be completed within four years of full-time study.  The program has been accredited since 1993 and has approximately 30 students enrolled.  The student upon graduating will have a greater understanding of community nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, food science principles, management skills, effective communication strategies in nutrition and food education, and issues that affect the profession of dietetics. 

Combined Program of Dietetic Internship and Master of Science in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Nutrition and Wellness: This program is an 18-month program of graduate study that integrates didactic and clinical experiences into one curriculum. The program will begin in the fall semester and run through the spring, summer, and fall semesters of the next year.  Both the Internship Program and the Master of Science degree must be completed in order to receive a Verification Statement and be eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Up to ten qualified applicants are accepted each year.  Travel is required for this internship program.  Rotations in varied clinical, community and food service management settings.  Successful completion of this program qualifies one to sit for the registration examination to become a liscensed and registered dietitian.  The Combined Master of Science/Internship Program (MS/IP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
